Veterinary Surgeon – Sidcup

Pay: Up to £65,000.00 per year

Job Description:

  • Independent Practice
  • Excellent facilities
  • Welcoming, supportive team
  • Recent refurbished practice
  • Up to £65k salary DOE

Do you have 2 years’ or more UK practice experience? Looking for clinical freedom? Want to move away from a corporate culture? Then perhaps this is for you!

Just a short commute from Sidcup, my client is looking to welcome a Veterinary Surgeon to a recently refurbished practice where clinical excellence is matched by a genuinely supportive and collaborative team environment. The practice has a close-knit culture, with managers working alongside the team every day and taking an active role in its continued development and success.

The veterinary team consists of six full-time and one part-time Veterinary Surgeons, supported by seven Registered Veterinary Nurses, two Student Veterinary Nurses/VCAs and an experienced support team. As a VetGDP-approved practice, professional development is a real priority, with unlimited CPD actively encouraged and fully supported.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to develop their clinical skills within a well-equipped practice. A strong surgical caseload is complemented by the expertise of a Surgical Certificate Holder and an Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology, while visiting specialists in orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging and cardiology provide additional opportunities for learning and collaboration.

The recently refurbished practice has been thoughtfully designed to provide an excellent working environment and is equipped with four consulting rooms, separate dog and cat waiting areas, a dedicated dispensary, a fully equipped in-house Idexx laboratory, an imaging suite with a bucky table and high-quality ultrasound, a separate dental suite with digital dental radiography, a hospital-standard operating theatre, and a dedicated preparation room. The practice is also fully equipped with modern anaesthetic monitoring equipment, electrocautery, suction, orthopaedic instrumentation and everything needed to support a varied medical and surgical caseload.

The full-time rota is based on a 40-hour week, typically worked over four days from 9:00am to 7:00pm. Dedicated lunch breaks and protected administrative time are built into the diary, with the final consultation scheduled for 6:00pm to support an on-time finish. The role also includes 1:4 Saturday mornings (8:30am–12:30pm) with no out-of-hours commitment.

In return, my client offers a competitive salary up to £65,000, depending on experience, alongside five weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays. Professional memberships including RCVS, VDS and either BVA or BSAVA are fully funded. The benefits package also includes an enhanced company sick pay scheme, company pension and heavily discounted veterinary treatment for employees’ own pets.
