A short commute from Hertford, my client is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with at least three years’ clinical experience to join a thriving multi-vet team within a busy first opinion practice.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established independent practice where the owners work alongside the team on a daily basis, creating a supportive and collaborative environment. With a total team of 31 and exceptionally low staff turnover, the practice is committed to building long-term careers and invests in recruiting people who will become valued members of the team.

The practice offers a varied and rewarding caseload within a modern, purpose-built environment. Facilities include two operating theatres, ultrasound, endoscopy, an in-house laboratory, separate dog and cat wards, a dedicated cat preparation room, a separate dental suite, four preparation tables, Casco recovery kennels, seven consulting rooms and a dedicated comfort room for end-of-life appointments, ensuring both patients and clients receive the highest standard of care.

The full-time rota is based on a four-day week, with shifts between 8:00am–6:00pm or 10:00am–8:00pm. The role includes 1:4 Saturdays and 1:8 Sundays (both 9:00am–3:00pm), with time off in lieu provided. There is also an equal share of on-call responsibilities; however, the practice is not a 24-hour hospital. Only the practice own inpatients remain overnight, supported by a dedicated on-site night nursing team.

Professional development is actively encouraged, with a generous CPD allowance and full support for those wishing to study towards a certificate.
